Research England supports the continuation of a world-class, dynamic, responsive research base across the full academic spectrum within UK higher education. To do this, we draw on evidence of the wider higher education provider (HEP) system to inform our policy and funding interventions.
We monitor issues affecting the higher education sector to develop and implement approaches that drive increased effectiveness, efficiency and continuous improvement by incentivising good practice and enhancing performance.
We encourage HEPs to:
- cultivate and implement an open research agenda
- foster the development of early-career research talent
- promote equality, diversity and inclusion
- broaden the skills of the next generation.
