NERC Future Leaders Council

Contents

Overview

From June 2023 NERC has created the Future Leaders Council (FLC) as a new body within the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) governance structure.

It will broaden the talent pool available to advise us, while at the same time, allowing the environmental science leaders of the future to gain valuable committee member experience.

Establishing the FLC is key to helping us deliver on our commitment to create and sustain a positive, fair and inclusive environment for both our employees and the environmental science research community.

Our aim is to ensure that NERC becomes more representative of the communities we serve, and that we benefit from constructive challenge from a wider range of perspectives.

The FLC will have a specific remit to advise NERC on the following areas:

  • digital
  • sustainability
  • public engagement
  • diversity and inclusion

These areas will run alongside exposure and advice on the wider strategic questions of the moment.
