See our collection of stories highlighting BBSRC impacts throughout 2021, from a new test for COVID-19 through to an app improving the lives of farm animals.

In 2021, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) invested £489 million in world-class bioscience. Our role is to support and invest in bioscience that delivers world-class outputs, outcomes and impacts to society and the economy.

This collection of stories highlights the different types of impact that have been realised throughout 2021, introducing some of the researchers and innovators who have made this happen.

The selection of impacts include stories such as:

  • a new test for COVID-19
  • sustainable technologies for food production
  • cleaner and greener processes for biomanufacturing
  • using artificial intelligence to solve grand biological challenges.
