UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is represented by the UK Research Office (UKRO) in Brussels.
The office supports the UK’s involvement in the EU’s key research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe. The programme has a budget of €95.5 billion and runs until 2027.
UK academics and businesses secured over €7 billion from Horizon 2020, the EU’s previous funding programme. The UK is the second highest recipient of EU grant funding after Germany.
Supporting UK researchers and innovators
UKRO delivers a subscription-based service for UK universities and research organisations. The service provides organisations with news, insight and advice to help them engage with EU-funded research.
Find out how to access UKRO’s services.
UKRO works closely with partners across government, the UK Mission to the EU, and colleagues across UKRI to maximise UK engagement in Horizon Europe.
We achieve this by:
- acting as a trusted source of advice
- promoting the UK’s research and innovation strengths and capabilities
- liaising with EU institutions
UKRO is part of the wider UK team of National Contact Points (NCPs). NCPs are appointed by the UK government to give free and impartial advice on Horizon Europe.
