The European molecular biology conference
The European Molecular Biology Conference, founded in 1969 and comprising 31 member states, is the intergovernmental funding body for EMBO. The EMBC president, two vice presidents and a secretary general lead the conference and governments of the member states nominate delegates. MRC and BBSRC represent the UK as EMBC delegates.
The conference is responsible for the general programme; however, its execution is entrusted by the conference to EMBO. The general programme primarily focuses on:
- the provision of training, teaching and research scholarships
- the establishment of programmes for courses, workshops in the life sciences.
