Details

ESRC commissioned Technopolis to undertake an independent review to scope the specific capacity building needs in the social sciences to support training in data-driven research skills at the doctoral stage. This included identifying where examples of good practice and existing strengths exist and where additional investment is needed.

The report was a source of evidence considered as part of our review of the PhD and which, in turn, informed both its vision and strategy for postgraduate training. ESRC’s expectations for the content and delivery of postgraduate training funded by ESRC is set out in its postgraduate training and development guidelines 2022.
