Details

The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), managed by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), is aimed at propelling research and innovation to tackle the UK’s primary industrial and societal challenges.

ISCF aligns with the key themes of the 2017 Industrial Strategy, namely:

  • ageing society
  • artificial intelligence and data
  • clean growth
  • future of mobility

A comprehensive evaluation of ISCF, conducted by RAND Europe and Frontier Economics, delves into the fund’s design, delivery, and stakeholder engagement.

The assessment shows that ISCF processes have evolved over time, adapting both internally and externally, to resonate with market needs and stimulate innovation. The evaluation has led to insightful recommendations which will help to shape future challenge-led research and innovation programmes.
