Dear [ERC Consolidator/Advanced Grant awardee],
I was delighted to read about your successful European Research Council grant and would like to offer my warmest congratulations.
I appreciate that the ongoing uncertainty about the UK’s association with Horizon Europe is unsettling. I want to reassure you that the UK government has guaranteed funding for all successful applicants to the first or second wave of Horizon Europe Grant awards. That includes the ERC Consolidator and Advanced Grants 2021.
We stand by that guarantee. Further details are available on the UKRI website. The route to obtain your guarantee funding will open on 14 June on our Joint Electronic Submissions (Je-S) system. All of the policy details given in the detailed guidance for ERC Starting Grants will also apply to your award, and similar guidance for your award will be published on the same UKRI web page on that date.
The UK government’s position remains, as it has always been, to associate to Horizon, Copernicus and Euratom. Regardless of the outcome of this we are committed to supporting your project. I wish you all the very best for its success.
Best wishes,
Ottoline
