Dr Ruth Kelman

EPSRC Deputy Director, International Partnerships and National Security

Dr Ruth Kelman is the Deputy Director for International Partnerships and National Security in the Innovation and Partnerships Directorate at the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Ruth leads EPSRC’s international portfolio providing strategic direction. Ruth works with the research community in the UK and overseas, research funders in other countries, and colleagues across EPSRC and UK Research and Innovation to identify and develop opportunities for international collaborations.

Ruth also provides strategic leadership and direction of the EPSRC national security requirements arising from international and homeland security perspectives and oversees partnerships with key national security stakeholders.

As an EPSRC senior leader, she has relationship management responsibilities with key strategic partnerships.

Prior to joining EPSRC, Ruth worked for the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) where she undertook a number of roles including leading NERC’s resilient environment theme and the water research portfolio.
