AHRC Associate Director of Programmes
Matthew McCallum is an Associate Director of Programmes at the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
Matthew’s role is to lead the strategic development of the AHRC’s programmes and funding strategies to establish and maintain effective support for high-quality research, researcher development, knowledge exchange, and broader impact activities in the arts and humanities.
He is also a Director of the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA).
He has a broad range of leadership experience and has led multi-disciplinary teams in a range of different mission-driven public institutions. Prior to joining AHRC he worked in higher education, leading professional services teams in research support, finance and planning.
He is a passionate advocate for social justice and an active proponent in creating an environment where diverse groups can engage with research.
