STFC Council member
Professor Jayne Lawrence is a member of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Council.
Since 2023, Jayne has been Director of the University of Manchester at Harwell, whose vision is to enable University of Manchester researchers to perform excellent, impactful science using National Facilities. Prior to this, Jayne was Head of the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry at the University of Manchester (UoM). She joined the UoM from King’s College London where she was Professor and Head of the Pharmaceutical Biophysics Group and concurrently served as Chief Scientist at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Jayne extensively uses National Facilities, particularly neutron scattering, in her research aimed at improving the delivery of drugs using nanomedicines. Jayne is Director of the Northwest Advanced Drug Delivery at the UoM.
To date, Jayne has published more than 160 peer reviewed papers and has graduated more than 55 PhD students. She has been a member of numerous UK and international committees and advisory panels, and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and workshops.
Jayne was awarded an MBE in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday honours for her services to pharmaceutical research.
