Professor Dame Janet Beer is a member of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Council.
Professor Dame Janet Beer was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Liverpool until December 2022. She was the Vice Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University from 2007 until 2015.
She is currently the chair of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, a member of the board of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, of the advisory board of the Government Skills and Curriculum Unit, Patron of the Mark Evison Trust, Independent Governor of Northumbria University and a trustee of the Baltic Arts Centre.
She was made Dame Commander of the British Empire in 2017 for services to higher education and diversity and equality.
