UKRI Audit and Risk Assurance Committee member
Christina Coker is a member of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Audit and Risk Assurance Committee.
Christina has extensive senior executive and non-executive experience of audit and risk assurance mainly in the arts, cultural and higher education sectors. Her current non-executive Director commitments include serving on the Audit and Risk Assurance Committees for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (University of London) and The Housing Ombudsman Service. She was previously Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (City of London Corporation).
Her career has included a variety of roles in local government and the third sector, specialising in education, arts, culture, social care, health, and regeneration. Developing interdisciplinary partnerships has been a constant feature in her work.
During her 13 years as Chief Executive Officer of the National Foundation for Youth Music (Youth Music), developing the organisation from inception, she worked effectively with government departments, non-departmental public bodies, and sector organisations on national policy and grants schemes. She also formed influential UK and international partnerships for improved service delivery and facilitating systemic change.
In non-executive roles, she continues to focus on audit and risk assurance, corporate governance, organisational effectiveness, and sector engagement.
She is an Honorary Fellow of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Trinity College of Music (London), Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Bangor University (N. Wales). Christina was awarded an OBE for services to music education.
