UKRI Chief Finance Officer and UKRI Board member
Siobhan Peters is Chief Finance Officer at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). As an executive senior leader and a member of both the Board and Executive Committee, she has overall responsibility for UKRI’s financial affairs, regulatory and compliance activities, and operations. She ensures UKRI’s operational performance is strong, compliant, and aligned with environmental sustainability goals.
Siobhan oversees strategic financial planning, governance, legal and regulatory oversight, commercial, security, health and safety, and people functions through her leadership of the Operational Leadership Team, which includes the Chief People Officer, Chief Information Officer, Chief of Investment Planning and Strategy, Finance Director, Chief of Operational Delivery, Legal Director and General Counsel, Change Implementation Leader, and Chief of Staff.
Siobhan also serves as a Non-Executive Director for Innovate UK Loans Ltd and is the Board Lead for Trusted Research and Innovation and Security, ensuring UKRI’s policies and practices support national security and research integrity. She is the executive sponsor for UKRI’s Disability Matters Network, advocating for inclusion and accessibility across the organisation.
Before joining UKRI, Siobhan held senior leadership roles across government and public sector organisations. She served as Chief Financial Officer and Interim Chief Executive at the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime.
Previously, she was Deputy CFO at Imperial College NHS Trust, responsible for strategic investment decisions, financial services, and procurement.
She has held director roles in finance, strategy, planning, programme delivery, and change at the Home Office and has experience in senior positions at HM Treasury and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She also served for five years in the economic section of the British Embassy in Beijing.
Siobhan was the Director for the Stern Review of the Economics of Climate Change and was awarded a CMG in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2007 for this work. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and Touche in 1996.
