Associate Director of Knowledge Exchange Strategic Projects and Partnerships, Research England
Bethany Adams is Associate Director of Knowledge Exchange (KE) Strategic Projects and Partnerships at Research England and Programme Director for the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Strength in Places Fund (SIPF).
She is responsible for overseeing the KE policy team, working with the Director of KE, alongside the Associate Director of Knowledge Exchange Data and Evidence, Ellen Bamford.
The team supports the higher education sector to enhance its work with businesses, public sector and local communities for the benefit of the economy and society.
The work of the team includes:
- the allocation of formula funding
- Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF)
- Connecting Capability Fund, which complements HEIF by supporting higher education provider collaboration in commercialisation through competitive projects and formula funds
She is also responsible for leading the cross-UKRI SIPF. SIPF is distinctive, in that it takes a place-based approach to research and innovation funding, driven by business need that can be met by research strengths.
Bethany has an MSci and a PhD from the University of Nottingham in Chemistry.
Previous roles include Assistant Director of R&I at the Scottish Funding Council, Infrastructure Lead in UKRI Investment Strategy, and positions at the Natural Environment Research Council.
