MRC Chief of Staff
Alastair Lamb is the Chief of Staff for the Medical Research Council (MRC).
Alastair is responsible for the design and development of MRC organisation, systems and culture. He oversees MRC’s change portfolio and is the principal connection with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), change initiatives and business partners in human resources, risk and communications.
Alastair has had a diverse career including service as an Officer in the Royal Air Force, a United Nations disaster responder, a commodity broker and executive board level appointments in the charity sector.
He came to UKRI in 2019 to work on the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund programmes Healthy Ageing, Accelerating Detection of Disease and Medicines Manufacturing before moving to MRC in March 2020 to respond to the COVID Pandemic.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and a Member of the Emergency Planning Society.
