As an employer in the research and innovation system, we are working to ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) also applies to our workforce. We want everyone who works for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to feel included, valued and able to contribute and participate.
We compile statutory reports that detail our progress in advancing equality, diversifying our workforce, and address barriers to inclusion. The reports are part of our requirement to publish workforce data and demonstrate our compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and the Equality Act (2010).
Workforce EDI equality monitoring report
This report provides a snapshot of our workforce diversity by protected characteristic, in addition to an activity report that details our progress against our key objectives within the Workforce EDI plan.

Pay gap reports
All organisations with 250 or more employees are required to report annually on their gender pay gap. The gender pay gap report highlights the percentage difference between the average hourly earnings for males and females across the organisation. The most recent reports also cover ethnicity pay gap.
Current reporting guidelines require us to segment the population by male and female, but we recognise that gender identity is not binary, and some individuals may identify differently.
The reports present data and analysis for the whole of UKRI as a single organisation, for each year covering 1 April to 31 March:
