Engage the public with science, technology or facilities: Spark Awards 2023 round one

Apply for funds to engage the public with STFC science, technology or facilities.

We’d particularly like to fund projects that engage:

  • eight to 14-year-olds, and their families, in socioeconomically deprived areas
  • groups considered to have low science capital

The project cost can be up to £15,000 (non-full economic cost).

Projects can be up to 36 months.

Analysis for innovators (A4I) round 10, stage one

UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £3 million to resolve productivity and competitiveness issues by working with top scientists and research facilities.

Centre of Excellence for Resilient Infrastructure Analysis on DAFNI

Apply for funding to support the Centre of Excellence for Resilient Infrastructure Analysis on the Data and Analytics Facility for National Infrastructure (DAFNI).

We are seeking participation from UK research organisations who will work to address grand-challenge problems for infrastructure resilience.

We are interested in modelling and analysis methodologies to be used to explore resilience and support decision making to address short or long term shocks.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible to send in an expression of interest for this funding.

Late-stage commercialisation scheme 2023

Apply for funding to the late stage commercialisation scheme.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible to send in an expression of interest for this funding.

Mental health platform hubs

Apply for funding for an interdisciplinary mental health hub (consortium) that addresses key mental health challenges.

The hubs will be funded for up to five years at 80% of the full economic cost. Awards will have a fixed start date of 1 April 2024.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UK Research and Innovation funding.

Director of population health improvement network of clusters

Apply for funding to lead, coordinate and manage the population health improvement network of research clusters.

The director must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Future Leaders Fellowships: round eight

Apply for funding to support ambitious research and innovation across UKRI’s remit.

You must be an early career researcher or innovator who is either:

  • looking to establish or transition to independence
  • developing their own original and ambitious plans within a commercial setting

Land use for net zero – research (LUNZ-Research)

Apply for funding for transdisciplinary, high-impact innovative research projects to develop the UK’s capacity and capability for transforming land use for net zero, nature and people.

The full economic cost (FEC) of your project can range from £2,500,000 to £4,500,000. UKRI will fund 80% FEC.

UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training in artificial intelligence

Apply for funding for a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) focused on the applications and implications of artificial intelligence (AI).

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding and have been successful at the outline stage.

Proposals are welcomed within priority areas addressing UK training needs in novel and existing AI technologies across the remit of UKRI.
