Before this, Tom worked at the University of Warwick as Director of Commercial Services.
A critical role
The Chief Operating Officer provides a critical role in helping to shape and deliver corporate functions from estates management to health and safety, as well as providing input into HR and finance.
STFC Executive Chair, Professor Mark Thomson said:
We had a really strong field of candidates, with over 100 applicants, but Tom stood head and shoulders above the rest. He will be instrumental in helping to deliver our strategy and forging closer links with the corporate centre. I look forward to his addition to my already excellent executive team.
Tom said:
I’m thrilled to be joining STFC as Chief Operating Officer and am looking forward to meeting new colleagues. It’s a fantastic organisation with exciting growth plans. In the months ahead, I’ll be focused on listening and learning about the opportunities and challenges.
