After another year in which research and innovation have been so central, it is great to see the many researchers and innovators included on the New Year’s Honours list. Huge thanks and congratulations to them all.
I am delighted that two recently appointed UKRI Board members are among them: Professor Sir Anthony Finkelstein and Dr John Fingleton.
Their honours are richly deserved and I am grateful to have their experience and insight to strengthen UKRI and the UK’s research and innovation system.
Many congratulations also to Dr Ian Campbell for his thoroughly deserved recognition.
He has made outstanding contributions to the research and innovation system through his leadership as interim Executive Chair of Innovate UK, including in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
