Professor Sir Leszek Krzysztof Borysiewicz, former chief executive of MRC, and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Board member has received a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire for his services to cancer research, clinical research, medicine and charities.

Sir Leszek took up the role of Executive Chair of MRC in 2007, serving in the position until 2010, when he became Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.
In addition to his leadership at MRC, Sir Leszek played a critical role as a founding member of the UKRI Board from 2017 to 2022.
