UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has launched a new integrated website delivering a simpler, more efficient user experience.
We have brought the UKRI corporate website, all seven research councils, Innovate UK, and Research England websites into one site, providing a strong unified voice for UKRI and its councils.
An intensive discovery phase mapped out users’ experience with the 10 UKRI sites.
This research showed that one integrated website would make it much easier to navigate and find the information users were looking for.
Two-stage development
The website was developed in two stages.
The first stage involved the replacement for the existing UKRI website and a new single funding finder, which contains all funding opportunities from across all the councils, launching in October 2020.
In the second stage, which now has been completed, content from the council websites was transitioned to the UKRI site. All the council websites have now been closed, marking the end of a successful project.
UKRI in one place
Katrina Nevin-Ridley, UKRI Director of External Relations, Communications and Public Engagement, said:
We are delighted to present an integrated UKRI website, making it easier for people to find out about all of UKRI in one place.
A huge amount of work has gone into developing the new site, providing quick access to funding opportunities, our research and innovation portfolios, through to our latest impact stories and news from all our councils, with a focus on simple, clear content that is easy to navigate.
Streamlining our operations
The web project is part of UKRI’s Reforming our Business programme to make UKRI’s operations simpler and better.
Paul Gemmill, UKRI Delivery Director for Reforming our Business, said:
The web project is a prime example of how UKRI is striving to streamline and simplify our processes and services, to make it simpler and easier to find the information and support our external users are looking for.
Our work isn’t over with completion of the web project, we’ll continue to develop and improve the website to provide the best service for our users, and to showcase the work of the nine councils.
