The MRC environmental sustainability seminar on optimising sample storage is part of a series focused on aligning research practices with environmental sustainability.

This session addresses sustainable biobanking, specifically low-temperature storage practices, to reduce the environmental impact of sample management in healthcare and life sciences.

Drawing on insights from collaborations and past seminars, it covers:

  • best practices
  • challenges
  • innovative solutions, such as advanced technologies
  • data-driven improvements
  • global collaboration

The seminar provides a platform for:

  • discussing the overhaul of storage practices
  • sharing real-life experiences
  • exploring future trends like digital biobanks and cryogenic facilities

All of this is aimed at achieving MRC’s net zero goal by 2040.
