The Arts and Humanities Research Council supports practice-led research. Reviewers have raised questions about the delineation between the resources required for practice and those required for research.
In other words, are the resources required for the practice an eligible charge on the grant, for example, costs associated with producing a film or installation?
If the reviewer concludes that the applicant must undertake the practice in order to address the proposed research questions, then it is appropriate to request these resources on the grant. The reviewer would need to apply the value for money criteria as normal.
