Innovate UK Interim Executive Director for Digital and Technologies
Gary Cutts is the lead for Innovate UK’s Digital and Technologies domain including:
- quantum
- artificial intelligence
- cybersecurity semi-conductors
- the creative and professional services sector
He is a future-orientated global technology business leader with significant experience leading large international technical programmes and functions. He is a natural initiator and leader of strategic transformation with substantial experience in complex systems product development and the introduction of novel, technological ecosystems.
Gary has 35 years’ experience in the aviation and technology industries, mainly working on complex engineering systems, business development and strategy. He has held global leadership positions in Rolls-Royce working across the product lifecycle including creating the system design function and leading the digital transformation of engineering for the group. He has also been a board member at the digital engineering consultancy CFMS.
Prior to taking up this Interim Executive Director role, Gary was Future Flight Challenge Director, leading the UK government’s £300 million Future Flight Challenge programme. Here he worked across government and industry to create innovative new aviation systems encompassing drones and Advanced Air Mobility vehicles.
Gary’s passion is to bring teams together to challenge the status quo and drive step changes in both the technology and business thinking to drive societal impacts.
